A London native, Dr. Stephen immigrated to Southern California as a teenager, where he attended high school.  While obtaining his bachelor of science in physiological sciences at UCLA, he developed an avid interest in laboratory research and community service.  He organized various community service projects while in high school and throughout college, and was frequently recognized for his efforts, including receiving a commendation by the County of Los Angeles for his service to the community.  While earning his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Stephen started a large medical student-run hypertension-screening project aimed at identifying hypertension within lower socio-economic communities and providing adequate access to medical care.

After completing his residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital, Dr. Stephen began private practice as an internist in Pasadena, California, while serving as a clinical instructor in medicine for the Huntington Memorial Hospital internal medicine residency program.  He later completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at St. Louis University School of Medicine.  Currently he serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director of the Center for Small Bowel Imaging and Endoscopic Therapy at the University of Arizona.
