Claudia Ann Highbaugh is the Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life at Connecticut College. Previously she worked at Harvard Divinity School as the Chaplin, Associate Director of Ministry Studies, and member of the faculty. Before Harvard, she was the Associate University Chaplain at Yale University, and a lecturer at Yale Divinity School.
Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she has served her faith community as a delegate to the National Council of Churches Governing Board and both the General Board and the Administrative Committee of the General Church. Current community involvements include membership on the boards of the Cambridge Guidance Center, the Disciples Divinity House at the University of Chicago and the board of trustees at Ursinus College, in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
Her work includes research and writing as an advocate for children and youth, especially in the areas of literacy and health care. Recent speaking and teaching engagements have focused on the areas of preaching, history, story, and the development of a strong spiritual basis for faith and leadership for children and youth. She served as religious adviser for the 2005 NBC mini-series, “Revelations.” Currently, she is involved in several writing projects in the area of spiritual development and enrichment for young adults and women in Christian faith communities.
